I find window seats very charming and dreamy.
When you have a space by the window which can add some purpose and function, why not create a charming space for you to hang out in?
We did this window seat in a master bedroom retreat. The ceiling height was only 7′ and we were on a budget. So instead of custom window treatments, we sped money on the seat itself. That was made from a 4″ foam so that it is comfortable to sit & hang out. A perfect place to curl & read a book.
I picked up some of the pillows from Home Goods. This became a perfect space to store those extra sheets, pillows and blankets.
Who doesn’t need extra storage space these days?
This window seat was designed for a bay window by the living room. We did custom window treatments and custom pillows for this job. The seat was a bit low so we added height by combining 2 x 3″ foams. For visual interest, we used 2 fabrics on the window seat itself. The actual fabrics have changed a little and we are doing this job in stages to make it more affordable.
Come on now- Wouldn’t you like to have a space like this in your home?
Here is a window seat that was right outside of the kitchen. What you see from those windows is the beach. This project was part of our Sandy renovation. The height was definitely a problem, we couldn’t use crown moldings. So instead used the lattice panels as part of the ceiling. We also painted the ceiling a light blue color to match the walls from the kitchen. That also creates a contrast with the white on the lattice panels.
Along with this being a pretty space to hang out in, the cabinets gave them some extra storage space. Client uses 1 side to store her pets food & toys. The dog got his own pantry.
Cabinets are not just for kitchens any more. We are constantly using cabinets in other rooms to bring in more function & storage.
Do you need to build a mudroom because you dont have space for all your coats and shoes?
